Artist Statement

My work is based on a spontaneous gesture translating a slow strings of ideas and my conception of the under-layers of human lives, their patterns and symbols.
These symbols can vary, but I am inspired mostly from the aesthetics and the color palette of  ethnic art, tribal folk art and landscapes that surround people.
My technique is based on a more sensory and physical method than a rigid conceptual one, I always strive to explore different textures, effects and shapes allowing the paint to find a dynamic of its own by letting “accidents” happen. I am always on the lookout for what surrounds us in nature such as natural fibers, plants, flowers or even  bones and trying to channel their feel onto the pieces.
I have always thought that my painting should give up their  function as  instruments of representation and therefore break free from any system of depiction to evolve towards being their own object, one that is autonomous and breaks free from the tangible world.

Art is not merely an imitation of the reality of nature, but in truth a metaphysical supplement to the reality of nature, placed alongside thereof for its conquest. (Friedrich Nietzsche)
